India handed Bangladesh a crushing 280-run defeat in the first Test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Bangladesh entered the series riding high on their recent 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan. However, their momentum was abruptly faltered by a dangerous Indian side.
India’s all-encompassing triumph was based on outstanding work in every department. But with Jasprit Bumrah, Ravi Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja leading the way, the bowling assault in particular proved to be deadly.
Bangladesh’s batting order was severely damaged by Bumrah’s four-wicket haul in the opening innings, which restricted them to just 149 runs. Bumrah also achieved a milestone by taking 400 wickets in international cricket with this performance. Basit Ali, a former player for Pakistan, praised the Indian pitch curators for designing a surface that tested both sides over the course of the four days.

With their skilful use of the circumstances, India’s spin pair of Ashwin and Jadeja took 11 wickets between them during the encounter. India took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series thanks to their performance. The ex-Pakistani made a comparison between Indian and Pakistani pitches. He asserted that pitch is unimportant to people back home.

“They think there’s no pitch value in our country. They are not literate. On the Board (PCB) are those who have proudly played cricket. This is the cause of my rage. “What are you teaching children?” he continued.
