Basit Ali chooses Gautam Gambhir's successor - 'Next hot coaching candidate'

It appears that India is going through a transformation that involves both the coaching staff and the players. As the head coach of the Indian squad, Gautam Gambhir has encountered some challenges in his short tenure. Only a few more questions have been raised by the recent thumping in the three-match series against New Zealand.

Gautam Gambhir has encountered some challenges in his short tenure

The Indian team management’s choice to elevate Tilak Varma up the order in the South Africa series, which was planned by interim T20I head coach VVS Laxman, has been praised by former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali. In the event that things go wrong against Australia, he also predicted that Laxman would replace Gambhir.

“Today, VVS (Laxman) taught me something. He is going to be the next big thing in coaching. In order to preserve the left-right combination, he did not send Suryakumar to bat at number three. VVS has become a viable alternative in the event that Gambhir’s Australia tour does not go as planned. In a video posted to his YouTube account, Basit said, “The choice to not start Surya at number three is one of those decisions that draw attention and ultimately change matches.”

Tilak Varma takes full advantage of the promotion and smashes his first tonne

Tilak Varma has entered at No. 4 in the opening two Twenty20 Internationals of the ongoing series between South Africa and India. But in the third game at Centurion’s SuperSport Park, the southpaw was at the crease when Sanju Samson left on the second delivery of the game.

After a scalding thud, Varma immediately adopted an aggressive stance against the opponent. He hit eight fours and seven maximums in a knock that left him undefeated at 107 off 56. India ended up scoring 219 runs and winning by 11 runs, proving that sending Varma before Suryakumar Yadav was a wise move.
