Basit Ali, a former cricket player for Pakistan, believes that Indian captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir are “not on the same page” and that there is some animosity between them. His comments after India’s poor performance in the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Brisbane and their 10-wicket defeat in the pink-ball Test in Adelaide.
With the top order once again struggling, the Indian team’s predicament has gotten worse. They finished a rain-shortened third day in Brisbane at 51/4, down by a huge 394-run difference. It is reasonable to assume that the hosts are in total command and are poised to take a significant lead. Since India’s lopsided defeat in Adelaide, Rohit’s leadership and decision-making have come under fire.

The 54-year-old also drew attention to some of the dubious choices made by the visiting squad, such as the frequent switching and chopping of the starting lineup.
“I have no trouble explaining it. Each of the three Test matches featured a different spinner. After winning the toss in two Test matches, they opted to bowl instead than bat. In the Australian batting order, there are three left-handers. So why not Ashwin (Ravichandran) and Sundar (Washington)? “Anyone who knows cricket will undoubtedly discuss it,” Basit continued.
One of the most memorable moments in India’s cricket history occurred during their final tour of Australia, when a novice visiting side defeated Australia 2-1 at the Gabba, their stronghold. Even though things do not appear to be going well right now, Rohit and company will be aiming to do something like in the remaining episodes of the series.
