On Day 3 of the third Test at Lord’s in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, Indian opener KL Rahul celebrated his tenth Test century in spectacular fashion but was removed right after. Rahul’s century was his second at Lord’s, and he once again left his mark on the London-based Home of Cricket’s Honours Board.
England’s spinner Shoaib Bashir was dismissed on the opening delivery of the 68th over. Rahul was enticed into a drive by Bashir’s flighted delivery. KL Rahul made the unusual mistake of pushing too hard at the ball, which dropped in front of him and then carried to Harry Brook at first slip for a clean catch. After a heroic three-figure mark, KL Rahul walked back with a disappointed expression on his face.

As of this writing, India is still more than 100 runs behind England’s 387 first-innings total, meaning the third Test is still evenly balanced. With a calm 104, Joe Root spearheaded the home team’s attack, and Brydon Carse (56) and Jamie Smith (51) provided vital runs in the lower middle order.
The standout bowler for the Shubman Gill-led team was Jasprit Bumrah, who destroyed England’s batting order and returned with scores of 5 for 74. The Englishmen finished the first innings with two wickets each from Mohammed Siraj and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
On Day 2, the visiting team lost Karun Nair, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal in retaliation. On the morning of Day 3, Rahul and Rishabh Pant put the innings back on track with a solid 144-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Just before lunch, England captain Ben Stokes produced a stunning direct hit that ran out Pant after he played an aggressive knock of 74. The highlight of India’s innings was Rahul’s century, but the visitors now have work to do because he was out right away after hitting the milestone.
