Bangladesh-India series may be cancelled amid political tensions between the countries

In August, India was scheduled to visit Bangladesh for a multi-format series. Following their successful Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, in which they won the trophy for the third time, the series was scheduled to be India’s first white-ball assignment. But according to the most recent information, the series in Bangladesh would be cancelled due to escalating political tensions between the two administrations.

The host nation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has also halted the sale of its media and broadcasting rights for the series. However, the board has stated that the sale of rights won’t be a major issue if the series is held later because the participation of the Indian team ensures a profit for the media rights holders and broadcasters.

“We’ll keep going and take our time studying the market. Hurrying things is pointless. According to Cricbuzz, BCB officials stated, “We can offer different contracts.”

“The India series’ date has not yet been set. The BCCI stated that it would be challenging for them to visit in August. It is a component of FTP. We requested that only the rights to the Pakistan series be sold. Then go slowly. as we’re short on time. The board official added, “There is no time for the Pakistan series.”

The wait for Rohit-Virat to rejoin the international team is still ongoing.

It was anticipated that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma would make their maiden appearances in international cricket following their respective Test retirements during the three ODIs in the proposed series. Both Virat and Rohit are anticipated to play till the 2027 50-over World Cup, despite the fact that they presently only play One-Day Internationals.

Fans may have to wait even longer for the pair to return to India uniforms, though, as the series is probably going to be scrapped.

The third and final match of the 50-over leg was assigned to Chattogram, while the first two ODIs were scheduled to take place at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka. The next ODI series between India and Australia will take place in October of this year. The series will consist of three matches.
