Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, won the toss against Zimbabwe in the first Test match in Sylhet and chose to bat first.
After missing Bangladesh’s previous series against the West Indies last year, Shanto is back as captain.
Alongside Khaled Ahmed, veteran Mushfiqur Rahim also rejoins the home team. Shahadat Hossain was left out of Bangladesh’s Test team, and Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed have both been rested.
Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza rejoins Zimbabwe’s three-man pace attack, which consists of Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani, and Victor Nyauchi. For this match, Jonathan Campbell, who captained Zimbabwe in their last Test match without Craig Ervine, has been benched.
Trevor Gwandu, Newman Nyamhuri, and Takudzwanashe Kaitano, who participated in the previous Test, are also absent for the visitors. Among them were Masakadza, Nyauchi, Sean Williams, and Ervine.
