Women's T20 World Cup 2024: Bangladesh announces 15-member squad,  Nigar Sultana to lead

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced their spin-heavy team for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is scheduled to begin on October 3, 2024. For political reasons, the event that was initially scheduled to take place in Bangladesh has been moved to the United Arab Emirates.

The 15-player group, captained by Nigar Sultana Joty, features a specific spin assault with options for both the left and right arms as well as leg-break and off-break specialists. The core of Ban bowling attack consists of key spinners Nahida Akter, Shorna Akter, Rabeya, Sultana Khatun, and Fahima Khatun.

There is also a group of fast bowlers in the squad. To finish the bowling attack, young prodigy Marufa Akter teams up with seasoned bowlers like Jahanara Alam, Mst. Ritu Moni, and Sobhana Mostary.

Bangladesh to play tournament opener against Scotland

Ban, England, South Africa, the West Indies, and Scotland are all in Group B of the competition. The Bengal Tigresses will play their first game of the tournament on October 3 in Sharjah against Scotland. On October 5, they will play a difficult match at the same site against England.

When the squad won against Sri Lanka and Ireland in the 2014 Women’s T20 World Cup, it was their finest performance to date. Ban will build on its prior victories and have a big influence in the 2024 competition with this well-chosen team.

The tournament’s move to the United Arab Emirates presents chances as well as problems for the team. Despite losing out on home advantage, they may benefit from the spin-friendly conditions in the United Arab Emirates.
