Despite political upheaval, Bangladesh remains hopeful in hosting the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in 2024

Despite the political upheaval in the nation, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has come forward and indicated that they are certain that they will host the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup 2024 according to schedule. The International Cricket Council, or ICC, has reportedly been keeping an eye on the circumstances in Bangladesh.

The Women’s T20 World Cup’s seamless operation has worried the International Cricket Council (ICC), as many international students have left Bangladesh and the internet has been shut down in numerous areas of the nation.

In response to assassinations and public protests, the nation’s administration was forced to declare a state of emergency last week, which has not yet been repealed, in order to maintain control over state affairs. It is noteworthy that October 3–20 is the scheduled period for the women’s T20 World Cup. 23 matches between 10 teams over 18 days will be played at two locations in Bangladesh.

In the upcoming days, we hope that everything will be alright. Chairman, BCB Women’s Wing

BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury told “As of right now, all I know is that we are hosting the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup as per plan and we are working accordingly keeping that in mind.”

Following an ICC meeting in Colombo on July 26, the chief executive and president of the BCB, Nazmul Hasan, had returned to Dhaka. In addition, the ruling party’s member of parliament and chairman of the BCB women’s wing, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel, recently said that they don’t want to panic because the board still has plenty of time to plan the World Cup.

“We’re hoping that in the upcoming days, everything will work out OK. The English and Australian teams came here during turbulent times in the past, including during Corona or other violent political situations. That is not the case, and things are getting better every day. We are excited to host the event and are making the necessary preparations in accordance with our strategy,” Shaiful stated.
