According to former Chennai Super Kings player Subramaniam Badrinath, Ravichandran Ashwin did not contribute enough to the Yellow Army during his homecoming season in the Indian Premier League. Ashwin’s IPL 2025 return to CSK wasn’t the finest; in nine games, he took just seven wickets.
The IPL trade window is now open and will end one week prior to the start of the next edition’s auction. Ashwin has talked candidly about his future with CSK and expressed his desire for management to clarify his role.
Like many experts, Badrinath has stated that the organisation needs to let him go before the mini-auction for the upcoming season because he did not live up to the expectations. The former cricket player and YouTuber reaffirmed his belief that an experienced Indian off-spinner should be dismissed from the team for the benefit of both sides.
Although not at INR 10 crore [INR 9.75 crore / sic], I believe Ashwin brings value to CSK. You must observe the player and the pricing point in the IPL. Without a doubt, he is not at his best.
In a video posted to his official YouTube page, Badrinath said, “That is why I have been maintaining from the start that Ashwin has to be released.”
Speaking on the same subject of IPL trades, Badrinath stated that it might be detrimental for star wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson to be traded from Rajasthan Royals to CSK because it is unclear if Dhoni will play another season. Samson and Dhoni together will cause confusion.
Additionally, there have been rumours circulating that Samson was traded to CSK. With the exception of the 2016 and 2017 seasons, when he played for the Delhi Daredevils (now the Capitals), Samson has been a part of RR since 2013.
The future of MS Dhoni’s playing career is uncertain. They haven’t decided on that yet. He could play a few games in Chepauk, or he might play a few games elsewhere. A brand value could be attached. A few brands might be drawn to him. He may wait to make an announcement till the IPL season begins. “I feel that Sanju Samson’s presence could cause confusion,” he continued.
