'Well played Kamran' - Babar Azam praises debutant Kamran Ghulam's knock against England in 2nd Test

In his maiden Test match for Pakistan, right-hander Kamran Ghulam scored a remarkable century against England in Multan. Former captain Babar Azam powerfully reacted to Ghulam’s knock.

Azam’s omission from the second and third Test matches against England caused controversy, which led to Ghulam being selected for the vital No. 4 spot. The decision to “rest” Babar was criticised by several, including former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja, who described it as a “knee-jerk reaction.”

But Tuesday’s performance by Ghulam silenced a lot of people. Azam’s “perfect replacement” has been located in Pakistan, according to numerous social media users. As for Babar, he posted on Instagram to express his feelings, writing, “Well played Kamran.”

On his Test debut, Kamran Ghulam became the thirteenth Pakistani player to achieve a century.

On a difficult pitch, Ghulam came in at 19/2 and displayed incredible poise and talent. In addition to stabilising the Pakistani innings, his 118 off 224 balls, which included 11 fours and a six, put his name in the record books.

Ghulam became the first hitter from Pakistan to score a century on his Test debut against England and the 13th overall. Additionally, he became just the second Pakistani player to reach 100 runs in their debut appearance as a No. 4 batter in Test cricket, joining the select group of Saleem Malik.

Saim Ayub‘s strong 77 and the debutant’s century enabled Pakistan to a comfortable 259/5 at stumps on Day 1. Additionally, with Aamer Jamal and Noman Ali at the crease, the hosts had reached 358/8 by lunchtime on day two.

Despite scoring a lot of runs at the same location, Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat in the first Test of the series and will try to recover in the second Test against England.
