Before the England T20Is, Babar Azam gives a hearty hug to Gary Kirsten
Gary Kirsten, a former cricket player from South Africa, was named Pakistan’s new head coach of the white-ball side. Pakistan will play England in a three-match T20I series before the 2024 T20 World Cup, and the 56-year-old joined the team in England.
Before the first T20I on Wednesday, May 22, at Headingley, Kirsten landed in Leeds. Wahab Riaz, the team manager, men’s assistant coach Azhar Mahmood, and Pakistan captain Babar Azam welcomed the 2011 World Cup winner.

Babar was seen welcoming Kirsten in the video that has gone viral on social media, and he was beaming broadly. Kirsten and Jason Gillespie were named as Pakistan’s white-ball and red-ball coaches, respectively, earlier today, marking a shift in the coaching staff.

It should be noted that Pakistan defeated Ireland 1-2 earlier in May 2024. Now, they will play a three-game T20I series against the side in an attempt to establish themselves in England. Additionally, the series will aid them in their preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

I’m genuinely thrilled to start this new journey. Kristen

Kirsten came up to express his excitement at being appointed as Pakistan’s new leader. He emphasised the great privilege it is to be leading such a vibrant group of players heading into the 2024 T20 World Cup.

“I am genuinely thrilled to start this new journey with the men’s cricket squad from Pakistan. According to IndiaToday, Kirsten “is excited to contribute to their success on the international stage. It’s an honour to coach such a talented and dynamic team.”

“With a new management and players who are motivated to produce good results, these are exciting times for Pakistani cricket.” We have a great chance to demonstrate our abilities and maintain Pakistan’s reputation as a dominant power in cricket at the forthcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” he continued.
