'Whenever we go to India we get love from their fans' - Babar Azam excited to play in front of jam-packed crowd in World Cup

The Babar Azam -led team will, however, be without the backing of their supporters throughout the competition who might not be in huge numbers in India.

The World Cup 2023 is rapidly approaching, and teams are completing their final preparations for the enormous competition. Pakistan is one of the top candidates for the World Cup since they will play in surroundings that are comparable to those at home in India.

The majority of their games have been sold out, but captain Babar Azam believes they will receive the similar amount of support in India as well. Babar stated that he has heard from prior players that they receive support in India and is expecting for the same this time around before departing for India ahead of the major tournament.

“I’ve observed that every one of our games has been sold out, and the stadium is crowded even when we are playing against other nations. It’s great that our supporters and admirers over there are showing us support and affection. We always receive support from their followers whenever we visit. Those who have been there before have mentioned that you get good support there, and I’m going there for the first time. However, we shall miss our supporters,’Babar Azam stated during the press conference.

The Pakistani skipper was questioned further over his subpar performance with the bat against India. Notably, Babar Azam has a poor record against India in ODIs and T20Is, only scoring one fifty-plus in 11 innings across both formats. When asked if he would turn the tables this time, he responded that he was eager to play in front of a packed house in Ahmedabad and would do his best for the squad.

“I can’t wait to play in Ahmedabad; it has the largest stadium and will be crowded to capacity. I’ll make an effort to do well and give it my all. I don’t worry too much about how I perform, but I do my best for my team. I will do my best on that particular day, and the All-Powerful Allah will reward me with the best outcome, he continued.

Pakistan will play exhibition games against New Zealand and Australia.

Notably, on October 14 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, Pakistan and India will square off in a much-anticipated match. Pakistan will begin their season with warm-up matches against New Zealand on September 29 and Australia on September 3 before their first league match against Netherlands on October 6 in Hyderabad. England and New Zealand will play in Ahmedabad on October 5 to kick off the ODI World Cup 2023.
