Asia Cup 2023: During Pakistan's Super Four match, Babar Azam exceeds another Virat Kohli record and scores 2000 runs as captain.

During the Super Four match against Bangladesh in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 on September 6 at the Gaddafi Stadium, Pakistan’s ODI captain Babar Azam added a new accomplishment to his resume. Notably, Shakib Al Hasan and company were defeated by the home team’s great performance by a margin of seven wickets.

Babar Azam was dismissed for a pitiful total of 17 runs off 22 deliveries, showing that he was unable to have a significant impact on the game.

However, he accomplished a great achievement by leading the ODI team to 2000 runs in just 31 innings. The 28-year-old beat out former India captain Virat Kohli, who had accomplished the feat in 36 innings, to become the captain to reach this milestone the quickest. A standout player in contemporary cricket, the No. 1 ODI batsman assumed the captaincy in the 50-over format in 2019.

Pakistan aims to win the Asia Cup.

Pakistan will be aiming to win the upcoming key matches in the Super Four stage as the Asia Cup 2023 approaches. On September 10, Pakistan will play host to India at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo. The two bitter rivals will square off again because their September 2 Group A match was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Men in Green will play co-hosts Sri Lanka in their final game of the Super Four stage following the contest against India. Babar’s batting prowess will be crucial as Pakistan tries to make it to the championship game for the second time in a row.

With 168 runs from three games at an average of 84, Babar is presently second in the current continental tournament. The 28-year-old showed off his batting prowess against Nepal in the tournament’s opening match by recording his 19th century in the 50-over format. He scored 151 runs during the game, enabling his team to win easily by 238 runs.
