The pitches that Pakistan had initially intended to use for their series against Bangladesh and England, respectively, were made available by assistant coach Azhar Mahmood. Additionally, he pointed out that the crew and management had quite different expectations for how things would finish up.

“We knew exactly what pitches we needed to prepare for England and Bangladesh. Against Bangladesh, we used pace wickets, while against England, we used spin pitches. After the second day, we told the curator to expect the ball to spin in the first test. However, the pitch didn’t change until the fifth day. Hopefully, on the ninth day, things will start to change. Twenty wickets must be taken by you. We considered our options for handling those. We believed that spin was the best strategy to take 20 wickets against England if we choose to use that pitch,” Mahmood said, as cited.
The former all-rounder for Pakistan also noted that the best course of action was to create surfaces that are already familiar to many of the new players joining the team.
“These players have a lot of experience. All of them have years of experience and have played first-class cricket. Mahmood said, “I don’t think there will be that much pressure on that because the best option is to play players at home on pitches they are used to.”
