Watch: Axar Patel drops sitter at deep-point, hands Phil Salt lifeline

During the current second ODI between India and England at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Axar Patel was the player who made the most spectacular outfield drop of all. On the last delivery of the game’s sixth over, the unexpected incident took place. Additionally, this was the first over of Hardik Pandya’s opening spell.

At deep backward point, Phil Salt, who was batting on six off eleven deliveries, upper-cut the short delivery that Hardik bowled right into Axar’s hands. Axar, who was positioned close to the fence, appeared content with the ball. However, it appeared that he took it too easy and ultimately ruined the simple chance to give Salt a break.

Luckily, Salt did not significantly increase the scoreboard for Axar Patel and the hosts.

In the eleventh over, he was out for 26 by Varun Chakravarthy. That was the first wicket the rookie mystery spinner took in his ODI career.

Ben Duckett leaves following a half-century of authority

After England won the toss, they decided to bat in the match. Similar to their performance in the series’ opening ODI, they got off to a great start. Throughout the first ten overs, Ben Duckett scored 48 runs, demonstrating his aggressive style of play. Shortly afterward, the opener added his sixth ODI half-century.

After Salt was dismissed, Duckett left for a 56-ball 65 four overs later. The left-handed batsman had dragged a tossed-up delivery outside off to Hardik at long-on, who caught the opportunity with ease. The current score after 46 overs is 261/6 for England. India would like to keep the number of visitors to less than 300.
