Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan are on the original shortlist, while youthful left-arm pacer Naman Tiwari is also anticipated to be included, according to a Cricbuzz report. The SA20 2025–26 season, which starts on December 26 and ends on January 25, is when the bowlers are most likely to visit Durban the next week. The same management owns the sibling team of LSG, the Durban Super Giants. Crucially, none of the players have contracts with the BCCI or participate in the current Vijay Hazare Trophy, and LSG is thought to have obtained the necessary board approvals.
The Lucknow Super Giants have begun their IPL 2026 preparations by organising a targeted international training program for their local fast bowlers. LSG plans to bring a group of Indian pacers to South Africa to practice with Durban Super Giants players during the forthcoming SA20, with the new season still more than three months away.
Mohsin and Avesh recently had knee surgery.
Notably, Mohsin missed the entire 2025 season, and Avesh hasn’t participated in competitive cricket since the previous IPL season. Both pacers have just recently returned to bowling after undergoing knee surgery in July. The Durban Super Giants’ support staff members Lance Klusener, Tom Moody, Bharat Arun, and Carl Crowe will supervise the training program. Interestingly, LSG is also connected to Moody’s, Arun’s, and Crowe’s. In addition to giving the bowlers competitive circumstances free from the burden of instant match results, this will enable LSG to constantly monitor their recuperation.
The term serves as a learning experience for Naman Tiwari. The team views the 20-year-old left-arm bowler, who was purchased for INR 1 crore at the IPL 2026 auction, as a long-term possibility. Tiwari, who can reach speeds of over 140 kmph, has not yet made his domestic debut and is not included in Uttar Pradesh’s Vijay Hazare Trophy roster. Tiwari might return for his first senior call-up, while Avesh and Mohsin might also make it back in time for the second leg of the Ranji Trophy beginning on January 22 depending on their fitness improvement.
