Avesh Khan takes Mohammed Shami position in the Test team for SA vs. IND.

Avesh Khan has been named by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to replace Mohammed Shami in the second and final Test of the series against South Africa. A five-for-five haul was amassed by Avesh Khan, who has not yet made his Test debut against South Africa A in the second unofficial Test. The pacer will join the Indian team and begin his preparations when the game is over.

Notably, Indian pacers’ performances in the Boxing Day Test did not impress captain Rohit Sharma. Although he thinks Jasprit Bumrah did a fantastic job, he wasn’t able to get enough help from the other pacers. Although he acknowledged that Prasidh Krishna is still raw, he still believes he will grow in the future.

Shortly after Avesh Khan outstanding performance for India A and Rohit’s comments, the decision to add him was made.

Avesh’s selection in the red-ball team may be a sign that he may soon make his Test debut, given the pace battery’s lackluster performance in the first Test. In 38 First Class games, he has amassed 149 wickets at an economy of 3.12 while playing. The pacer hasn’t been playing well lately, but the team management believes he may do well in South Africa’s challenging conditions because of his ample lateral movement.

Jaydev Unadkat, who participated in the West Indies Test series, has been discarded without sufficient opportunity. However, Mohammed Shami has not yet fully recovered but is anticipated to play in the five-match series against England, which gets underway in Hyderabad on January 25.

India’s bowling and batting units must improve in the second Test match against South Africa if they are to win. In the encounter, they were bundled twice in 101.5 overs, and Rohit acknowledged that the surface was not poor enough for the bowling unit to give up more than 400 runs. Before the second Test, which is scheduled to start in Cape Town on January 3, there is plenty of opportunity for Team India to improve.
