Australian infatuation with... - Tom Moody criticises Australia after a lacklustre second day in Nagpur

Tom Moody, a former Australian cricketer, criticised the Australian team for their performance against India on Day 2 of the Nagpur Test. With set hitters Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel still at the crease, the hosts had a 144-run advantage at the end of the day. Day 2 at Stumps has India on 321/7 after Australia was dismissed for just 177 on Day 1.

The Indian captain appeared to be in excellent form as he amassed 120 runs off 212 deliveries, including 15 fours and two sixes. On a pitch where other batters struggled to score large, Rohit used proper cricketing strokes and rotated strikes consistently.

The current Director of Cricket for Sri Lanka Cricket, a former Sri Lankan coach, tweeted after Day 2’s stumps, “Australia’s concern with what might have, instead of focused on playing what’s in front of them, has weighed heavily.”

After the hosts had 186 for 5 points and had taken five wickets in the first innings, Ravindra Jadeja joined the captain. After that, the top-ranked Test all-rounder in the world reached fifty runs, including a 61-run partnership with the captain for the sixth wicket. Axar Patel eventually joined Jadeja, and the two are now unbeaten on 66 and 52, respectively, and have added 81 runs for the ninth wicket. Jadeja hit nine home runs whereas Axar played 102 balls and only managed to hit eight.

For the visitors, right-arm off-spinner Tom Moody of Australia emerged as a lone fighter, claiming five wickets in his first Test while giving up 82 runs in 36 overs.

KL Rahul, Ravichandran Ashwin, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, and KS Bharat were all victims of his critical wicket-taking. Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins each shared a wicket in the meantime.
