Australia Women Match Own World Cup Record Against South Africa

In the Women’s World Cup 2025, Australia Women defeated South Africa handily in Match 26 to advance to the semi-finals after being undefeated during the league stage of the competition. With a decisive net run rate of +2.102, Australia led the standings after winning by seven wickets with 199 deliveries remaining.

The Proteas batting lineup was completely overwhelmed by Alana King’s seven-wicket haul (7/18 in 7 overs), as they were unsure of how to tackle her. They easily defeated the 98-run mark in 16.5 overs on Saturday, October 25 in Navi Mumbai.

Australia’s victory over South Africa in the Women’s World Cup was their ninth overall. Australia has yet to be defeated by South Africa in the major tournament. Additionally, the Australians tied their winning streak from 1997 to 2000 by extending their winning run to 15 straight games.

Schedule of Women’s World Cup matches between South Africa Women and Australia Women:

Edition Winner Margin
2025 Australia 7 wickets
2022 Australia 5 wickets
2017 Australia 59 runs
2013 Australia 3 wickets
2009 Australia 61 runs
2005 Australia 97 runs
2000 Australia 9 wickets
2000 Australia 9 wickets
1997 Australia 10 wickets

Most wins in a row in the Women’s World Cup:

Team Span Wins
Australia 2022-2025 15*
Australia 1997-2000 15
Australia 1978-1982 12
New Zealand 1988-1993 11
England 1993-1997 10

The second semi-final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 will take place at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30, and pit first-place Australia Women against co-hosts India. The round-robin stage has already seen the Australians overcome the Women in Blue. Captain Alyssa Healy’s 142-run knock helped them win by three wickets in Visakhapatnam on October 12.

Healy’s slight calf strain kept him out of Australia Women matches against South Africa and England.

Healy was not present, so Tahlia McGrath captained the team. It is the hope of the team management that Healy would recover and lead the charge against Harmanpreet Kaur & Co.
