After Australia's valiant victory over India, Ashleigh Gardner says, "We arguably had no right to win at one point there."

India could not complete the task as Australia once again defeated the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team in the first semi-final of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup, despite being in control for the duration of the second innings.

None of the players could step up after the terrible departure of the India captain, and Australia prevailed by five runs to go to the crucial final, which is scheduled for February 26.

After the match was ended, Player of the Match Ashleigh Gardner agreed that India had the upper hand and was the favourite to win the match at the ten over mark of their batting innings. She did, however, also point out that everyone on the team shown tremendous character and recovered brilliantly to triumph admirably on Thursday in Cape Town (February 23).

According to Gardner, who was quoted by ESPNcricinfo, “I believe around the ten-over mark in India’s batting innings, everyone had probably written us off, but I think that just shows our character inside our side and that’s why the best teams win in those types of scenarios.”

“What we talk about is that when we’re up against it, we always try to find a solution, and today, there was definitely a point where we had no right to win. They were cruising when we managed to pick up a few wickets and ultimately won, the all-rounder continued.

One of the best victories I’ve been a part of: Miss Lanning

Meg Lanning, the captain of Australia, exclaimed with joy after defeating India in the semifinal match.

She referred to it as one of the best victories of her career and expressed how proud she was of her daughters for having such a strong sense of will to win.

“One of the best victories I have ever been a part of. Despite not playing our best cricket, to come back from being far behind and triumph. I couldn’t be more proud of the girls’ tenacity, the 30-year-old was reported as saying by the Indian Express.
