Twitter Reactions: After Jasprit Bumrah's bowling masterclass, Australia tail wags to frustrate India on Day 4

Day 4 of the current Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25) fourth test was a very exciting day. India scored 369 runs in the first innings owing to a century from Nitish Kumar Reddy. The Australians then came out to bat with the goal of extending their lead and scoring a significant amount.

For eight and twenty-one runs, respectively, Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja were dismissed at the start of the innings. In addition, Travis Head was removed on 1 run and Steve Smith was fired on 13 following recent outstanding efforts.

As Mitchell Marsh left for a duck and Alex Carey added two runs to the score, things got worse. While Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah kept up their impressive play, Pat Cummins and Marnus Labuschagne held their own and performed admirably. Labuschagne and the Australian captain each scored 70 runs in 139 deliveries and 41 runs in 90 deliveries. Labuschagne and Cummins’ scores helped the hosts recover from a terrible start to the second innings.

The day ended with Australia scoring 228 runs with nine wickets lost, while Nathan Lyon remained undefeated at the end of day 4 with 41 runs in 54 deliveries.

Taking four wickets on day four, Jasprit Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker for the Indian team. Mohammed Siraj claimed three wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja also claimed one. In order to make it more difficult for team India, Australia will be hoping that Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland will add more runs to their lead, which has grown to 333 runs ahead of day 5.

Here’s how X reacted to Day 4 of the MCG Test between Australia and India:

Now that has to be the best innings I have seen from a no 8! An innings, a high calibre, pure batter would dream of playing. Nitish Kumar Reddy take a bow! 🙇 🙇🙇#INDvsAUS

200 wickets at an average of 19.56—absolutely phenomenal! What an extraordinary bowler. Mind-blowing achievement. Hats off to the one and only @Jaspritbumrah93 . #AUSvIND #Bumrah #BGT pic.twitter.com/fI2sS6ak7J

Akash deep has been really unlucky . He’s bowled his heart out but not much to show in wickets column . Pretty sure there will be a series where he won’t bowl as good as this but will get a lot of wickets. That’s how cricket works sometimes #BorderGavaskarTrophy #AUSvINDIA

Take a bow! What an incredible achievement by @Jaspritbumrah93. 200 Test wickets and making history as the first to do so! Your hard work, focus, and skill have taken Indian cricket to new heights. Proud to see you achieve this historic milestone! Keep inspiring, brother. 👏… pic.twitter.com/Pj7NcNVzyY

It’s never over when you have Bumrah in the team. Now chance for the batsmen to be heroes. Can this be Gabba again? #INDvAUS
