Twitter Reactions: Australia defeats Pakistan by 29 runs in rain-marred T20I game

After the ODI series winning, visiting On Thursday, November 14, at The Gabba in Brisbane, Pakistan took on the hosts, Australia, in the opening Twenty20 International. Because of the intense lightning and rain, the toss was postponed. The black clouds lingering overhead further dampened the prospects of enjoying some game when the pouring ceased. Despite the cloudy weather, the umpires attempted to call a match, and a Twenty20 International with seven overs per side was chosen.

After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bowl first. They were able to dismiss the dangerous Jake Fraser McGurk for 9 off 5 in the second over, and Matthew Short followed suit with a mere 7 off 4. All this time, Glenn Maxwell was doing the heavy lifting, scoring 43 off just 19 balls with three maximums and five boundaries. At the time of his dismissal, the hosts had reached 66/3 in just 5.3 overs.

Tim David only scored 10 runs in 8 balls of play. Marcus Stoinis, however, stole the show at the end of the inning. In seven overs, Australia scored 93/4 thanks to his undefeated 21 from just seven balls, two boundaries, and one maximum. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf each contributed one wicket, while Abbas Afridi took two for Pakistan.

Australian bowlers put pressure on the hitters from Pakistan.

Pakistan was dominated by Australian bowlers right from the beginning. On the fourth ball of the innings, Sahibzada Farhan (8 off 4 balls) was caught up after appearing to be in excellent form and hitting two boundaries. In an attempt to swing across a larger pitch, Mohammad Rizwan (0 off 2 balls) was next in line. Three, four, and four runs were scored by Babar Azam, Usman Khan, and Agha Salman. Irfan Khan, on the other hand, was caught. 3.2 overs later, the visitors were reeling at 24/6.

Although he had an unbeatable task at hand, Abbas Afridi (20* off 10) made a brief appearance in the end. In the first Twenty20 International, Australia won by 29 runs, while Pakistan finished their innings at 64/9.

Nathan Ellis and Xavier Bartlett both took three wickets for Australia. Adam Zampa and Spencer Johnson, on the other hand, took two and one wicket, respectively.
