Australia announces team for Women's Ashes Test Match

The Australia team for the upcoming Women’s Ashes Test Match was revealed today by Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP).

Georgia Voll of Queensland has an opportunity to make her Test debut, while the team includes the same 13 players that participated in the first three One-Day Internationals.

It will be the first women’s Test match played at the MCG since 1948–49 and the first day-night Test match played there.

“We’re happy with the form of the 13 players who have participated in the series so far and feel that it’s a squad that offers a variety of options when it comes to selecting the makeup of the Test side,” stated Shawn Flegler, National Selector and Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) for Cricket Australia.

“We’ll give Alyssa as much time as possible to demonstrate her fitness before the game, as she has been named in the squad as a batter only. Ash’s availability for the third Twenty20 match is still up in the air as she will continue to be evaluated every day. She is currently on schedule to be available for the Test match,” he continued.

We believe that this side, which has played Test matches against South Africa and India in recent years, has a fair amount of experience and can defeat England in four days. A pink-ball test at the MCG is the biggest event of the year, and the team will undoubtedly try to win the four points that are up for grabs.

Three ODIs, three T20Is, and a Test match make up the multi-format Women’s Ashes series. Each ODI and T20I victory earns a side two points throughout the series, whilst a Test victory earns four points. Points are shared in the event of a draw. The Ashes will be given to the side with the highest point total at the conclusion of the series.

Since taking home the title in 2015, Australia has been the host nation.

When Australia plays England live, fans can follow every moment on Seven Network, 7Plus, Fox Cricket, Kayo Sports, ABC Radio, and Triple M (T20Is).
