Kevin Sinclair, a Guyanan, played his first Test match for the West Indies against Australia at the Gabba in the second Test. After Gudakesh Motie was dropped from the playing XI for the day-night match, the 24-year-old received the Test cap from former cricket player Carl Hooper.

He was called up for the first time for a Test match in 2023 during the second Test matchup with India, taking Raymon Reifer’s position in the starting lineup. The off-spinner was brought into the picture even though he didn’t have a significant role.

In the meanwhile, West Indies faced Australia in a pink ball Test where they won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off to a bad start in the game, with captain Kriagg Brathwaite once again falling short of his ability. He was defeated by Josh Hazlewood, who dismissed the 31-year-old for four runs. Since the West Indies haven’t played enough Test cricket under lights, batting against pink ball could prove to be challenging for the other hitters.

Since it can cause problems for them at dusk and even later in the day, the objective would be to score most of the runs during that time. However, Australia has picked an unchanged starting eleven since Cameron Green is included in the playing eleven despite having tested positive for COVID-19.
