Australian Minister relishes his fanboy moment with Virat Kohli; image goes viral

The Indian team paid a visit to Parliament House following their victory in Perth in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT 2024–25), which was held before the second Test in Adelaide. The Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese, was observed chatting with India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, past captains Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja, at Parliament House in Canberra on Thursday, November 28.

Tim Watts, Australia’s associate minister for international affairs, garnered a lot of attention for his appreciation for India’s top batsman, Virat Kohli. Tim posted a selfie with Kohli while hosting the Indian team at the parliament. When the image appeared to be a typical post,

the subsequent slide revealed Tim sporting a Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) jersey, which is worn by Virat Kohli team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

It’s a little exciting to meet the Indian and Australian players in tonight’s PM’s XI match at Parliament House. I informed Virat Kohli that the only chance I have to genuinely barrack for him is when I play for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL. The best compliment I can give any international cricket player is that he plays like an Australian, which is why I have enjoyed watching him play. “Obviously, not when he’s playing against Australia,” Watts said as a caption on Instagram.

India will face Australia in a day-night pink ball test.

Meanwhile, the Indians will face Australia in the second Test in Adelaide. It is worth mentioning that the second Test will be the Pink Ball Test, and India was decisively trounced the last time they played the day and night Tests in Australia. For the uninitiated, India leads the five-match Test series 1-0 and must win the series 4-0 to qualify for the World Test Championship on their own.
