"Reports: Asia Cup 2025 to start Sept 5 in UAE, India-Pakistan on Sept 7"

According to rumours, the Asia Cup 2025 is anticipated to start on September 5 and end on September 21. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and the United Arab Emirates will all have teams competing.

The 17-day timetable has almost been confirmed by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), with India playing Pakistan in the opening match on September 7. All of the participating countries, including India, the official host, are reportedly nearing obtaining government approval for the competition, which will take place in the United Arab Emirates.

India and Pakistan are likely to face off at least twice during the event, which is scheduled to follow a group stage and Super Fours format. A second meeting between the two teams may take place on September 14.

Sony, the event’s official broadcaster, has unveiled the tournament poster, marking the start of the event’s promotional activities. Even though recent cross-border tensions have further deteriorated diplomatic ties, stakeholders who are anxiously awaiting the India-Pakistan confrontation in the multi-nation event applaud the development.

The competition may act as a significant prelude to the Women’s ODI World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka.

The future of cricket between the two countries was called into question by recent events, even though Pakistan was supposed to play all of their matches—including knockout games if they qualified—in Sri Lanka.

For broadcasters, sponsors, and other stakeholders, the Asia Cup movement is a huge relief as it provides much-needed clarity ahead of the two major multi-nation events later this year.

In the future, the Asia Cup will be hosted by Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. The tournament’s formats will continue to change: ODI will be used for the 2027 edition, followed by T20I in 2029, and ODI will be used again for the 2031 edition in Sri Lanka.
