In India’s forthcoming Super Four match against Pakistan, Kuldeep Yadav‘s boyhood coach Kapil Pandey wants the left-arm wrist-spinner to take five wickets. On Sunday, September 21, India and Pakistan will play each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
After losing to India earlier in the competition, Kapil believed that the Indian team appeared strong and that Pakistan would be under pressure to perform.
“We have a great team. Their spirits are high because they overcame Pakistan in the last game. Pakistan is under pressure after suffering a single defeat. We have a really well-rounded crew. One Cricket cited Pandey as saying, “It’s time for Kuldeep to take five wickets. Even if he doesn’t, he should bowl well, take the main wickets, and make the team proud.”
Ind won all three games, including a convincing seven-wicket victory over Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai, to finish as the table-toppers of Group A. Kuldeep won Player of the Match for his four-over quota of 3/18 in the match. Along with Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah, he was one of three bowlers who bowled 15 dot balls during that game.
Kuldeep’s four-wicket haul (4/7) in just 2.1 overs against the UAE in the tournament-opening match at the same venue was his best performance in the continental event. In 12.1 overs, the hosts were hustled out for 57 thanks in large part to Kuldeep. In Ind third group-stage match against Oman, he gave up 23 runs in three overs.
Pakistan, however, came in second place in the group. They won their next two games against Oman and the UAE by 93 and 41 runs, respectively, excluding the India encounter. In the end, their net run rate was +1.790, whereas India’s was +3.547.
