Prior to their forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 match against India on Sunday, September 21, former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth has blasted Pakistan for their subpar cricket. In their first meeting in the Super Four stage, the bitter rivals are set to square off at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Kris Srikkanth was unreserved in his criticism of Pakistan’s cricket, calling it a “big thing” that they are even able to compete in major competitions like the Asia Cup.
“Pakistan shouldn’t play with the top teams in the future. Bring some of the other countries here and have them among the Associate Countries. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Kris Srikkanth said, “The fact that they are even permitted to participate in such a prestigious tournament is a huge deal for Pakistan.”
The former top selector also praised Mike Hesson’s coaching skills and said that Pakistan plays like a “seventh division team in a Chennai league.”
“Pakistan ought to be taken out of the top seven. India-Pakistan matches will no longer draw large crowds. The conflict between India and Pakistan is now history. This Pakistani team won’t frighten us. In the Chennai league, this team is in the seventh division. Mike Hesson will return to discuss how they are a very talented squad and how their recent encounter against India was unfortunate. With Mike Hesson as your coach, you won’t succeed,” he continued.
In the current continental campaign, the Green Shirts came in second place in Group A. Against the Suryakumar Yadav-led team, they suffered their only loss to date, losing handily by a score of seven wickets. In their allocated quota of 20 overs, they managed to creep to 127, but it was not enough to stop India. Pakistan advanced to the Super Four stage, where they will face Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka after defeating the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
