On Wednesday, September 10, in match No. 2 of the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, Shivam Dube had a fantastic day at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium against the United Arab Emirates.
The Mumbai all-rounder claimed the wickets of Asif Khan, Dhruv Parashar, and Junaid Siddique, finishing with an incredible three-quarter total in two overs.
India chased the pathetic mark in just 4.3 overs, with nine wickets remaining, after dismissing the UAE for 57 in 13.1 overs. After Abhishek Sharma’s explosive start (30 off 16 balls), Shubman Gill (20* off nine balls) and Suryakumar Yadav (7* off 2 balls) led India home, denying Dube a chance to bat.
Following his outstanding performance with the ball, Dube declared that he finds no similarities with Hardik Pandya and views him as his brother. The 32-year-old instead stated that he hopes to get as much knowledge as possible from Pandya’s experience.
I learn a lot from Hardik, who is like a brother to me. Compared to me, he has a great deal more IPL and international cricket experience. I never considered comparison. At the news conference following the game, Dube stated, “My only goal is to absorb as much as I can from his extensive experience.”
Dube said that he has been putting a lot of effort into improving his bowling, particularly since rejoining the Indian squad. The Mumbai native claimed that he has been learning the craft of fast bowling from India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel.
Since I returned to the Indian squad for the England series, Morne has been training with me. I worked on the precise recommendations he gave me. I was informed that my bowling will play a part by the captain and the head coach. I’ve put a lot of effort into getting fit over the past two months,” Dube added.
I am aware that I will play a part in the middle overs: Dube
Dube stated that he is aware that he will need to contribute to India’s middle overs during the Asia Cup. He claimed to have practiced extending his shooting range.
“In terms of my batting, I am aware that I can contribute in the middle overs. I’ve worked on expanding my shot range because bowlers have been hitting me with short balls throughout the years,” Dube remarked.
The Men in Blue will now play their bitter rivals, Pakistan, in Dubai on Sunday, September 14, following their convincing victory against the United Arab Emirates.
