At the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday, September 10, India defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by a commanding nine wickets to begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign.
As the bowlers destroyed the UAE batting lineup, captain Suryakumar Yadav‘s choice to bowl first proved to be the right one.
After being thoroughly destroyed by India’s bowling assault, the UAE were bowled out for just 57 runs. The tone was set early by star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who dismissed opener Alishan Sharafu with a fiery yorker. The Men in Blue never turned back after that.
The most impressive player was Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm spinner who tore through the middle order with four wickets, including three in one over. Shivam Dube, an all-rounder, contributed as well with a remarkable three-wicket haul. Sharafu’s 22 runs were the UAE’s greatest individual total, but the squad as a whole found it difficult to handle the pressure.
India quickly reached 60/1 in just 4.3 overs, easily defeating a modest mark. While Shubman Gill was still undefeated at 20*, Abhishek Sharma hit a quick knock of 30 off 16 balls.
