India’s Asia Cup championship defence got off to a fantastic start as they thrashed the UAE, the hosts, by nine wickets after chasing down a target of 58 runs in 4.3 overs.
This came after the UAE was bowled out for 57 in 13.1 overs by Indian bowlers on Wednesday, September 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Aakash Chopra, a former India opener, referred to the match as a mismatch since the Men in Blue outperformed the Muhammad Waseem-led team in every way.
Because the UAE challenge was completely rejected, it was a mismatch rather than a match. Despite the fact that the two teams played 17.4 overs together, it was claimed to be a T20 encounter. In a video posted to his YouTube account, Chopra declared, “The match ended and India won.”
Since Shubman Gill frequently plays cautiously, which is incompatible with the Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav, some detractors questioned his participation in the T20 lineup. Chopra was happy to see Gill score more runs than Abhishek Sharma, though. The former cricket player was also baffled as to why the UAE, who faced a devastating hitter like Abhishek, began with a left-arm spinner.
Before this game, there was one certain question: would Shubman Gill be able to sprint as fast as Abhishek Sharma? Even though Abhishek Sharma struck a six off the first ball, he raced even quicker than him. “I wonder who bowls a left-arm spinner when a left-hander is facing,” the former cricket player turned analyst said.
Sending a lamb to the abattoir is analogous to this. He demonstrated intent and hit sixes. There were only 4.3 overs in the match (innings). Suryakumar Yadav arrived and struck a six off his opening ball, while Shubman Gill stayed undefeated. He went on to say, “This was as dominant as it got.”
Kuldeep Yadav made an amazing return: Chopra
India’s standout player on his international return was Kuldeep Yadav, who finished with figures of 4/7 in 2.1 overs. Chopra felt that he ought to have participated in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England and celebrated his comeback to the Indian playing XI.
“Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket comeback was amazing. He only bowled 2.1 overs. Every time he bowled, he was taking wickets, and you can see how great Kuldeep and Varun Chakaravarthy’s combo is. People have forgotten what form Kuldeep Yadav is in since he hasn’t played in such a long time,” he remarked.
“He was performing well in the IPL, but he didn’t play in England. He is a member of a team that plays in small venues, such as Arun Jaitley Stadium in Vizag. Despite his excellent ball-releasing skills, nobody is playing him. You didn’t play him in a single match, even though he ought to have been in England,” Chopra noted.
