After the Men in Blue seized a 2-1 lead in the five-match series against Australia, winning the fourth Twenty20 International at the Carrara Oval in Queensland by 48 runs, Ashwin stepped up to defend Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav.
In the first innings, Suryakumar, who has been having trouble scoring runs lately, smashed two sixes off Adam Zampa and quickly scored 20 off 10 balls. Even though there weren’t many runs, Ashwin thinks the pace at which they were scored gave the tourists’ innings some much-needed impetus. Suryakumar and Shubman Gill combined to score 33 runs off of 16 deliveries.
According to Ashwin, these knocks are useful in the game’s shortest format, particularly on pitches that are unfriendly to batters.
Suryakumar Yadav’s ten balls for twenty was incredibly helpful. In my opinion, 10 balls for 20 at a 200 strike rate is always more important in T20 cricket. At the top, Abhishek and Shubman still had a respectable partnership, but Surya entered the picture and provided that incredible boost. Unless you are obviously chasing a total, I would always believe that 10 balls for 20 is significantly more valuable than a strike rate of less than 125, 120, or 130 in a T20 match, Ashwin stated on his YouTube channel.
“One team must play in double gear if you are pursuing and players are giving it their all. However, everyone was aware that 160 was a good score today. Shubman had to play the way he had to pace the innings, and he did. I am pleased with Surya’s 10-ball-20, but I give credit where credit is due. “He did what he could,” Ashwin continued.
Mitchell Marsh invited India to bat first and they ended up scoring 167/8 in their 20 overs. Australia was dismissed for 119 in 18.2 overs by the Indian spinners, who caused chaos in the second innings.
