' I think he had his point'- Ravichandran Ashwin reveals getting scolded by Ravi Shastri

After the third Test at the Gabba in Brisbane, spin-bowling legend Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international forms in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. With his amazing variations and ability to take wickets over the course of his 14-year career, the 38-year-old made life difficult for the hitters. This marked the conclusion of a great career.

Following the end of the day, the Chennai native talked about how he was reprimanded by Ravi Shastri, the Indian team’s coach at the time. When the Indian team toured England in 2018, the offfie got into a notorious altercation with Ian Ward, which exposed his bowling tactics. The cricketer now made it clear that Shastri’s reprimands did not make him feel insecure.

“After doing that masterclass, Ravi Shastri gave me a serious beating. You have undoubtedly heard from him about that. He made a valid point, I believe, but I never felt embarrassed about it.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Cricket Podcast, Ashwin said.

“I believe that the game has two components. The first is to be able to give what you have, and the second is to be able to respond to what you hurl on the other end. I always thought as much, and I had the guts to say, “Here’s what I have to dish out,” he continued.

Even while Ashwin was more dangerous at home, his record in international tests is also amazing. During his 41 away games, he has claimed 154 wickets at an average of 30.05, including two 10-wicket hauls and eight five-wicket hauls. In addition, he has amassed 1485 runs and two hundreds to his belt.

Off-spin all-rounder Tanush Kotian was brought in to cover Ashwin’s massive vacuum when the veteran was removed. To replace the outgoing great for the next two Test matches of the series, which will be contested in Sydney (New Year’s & Pink Test) and Melbourne (Boxing Day Test), the Mumbai player was called up.
