Ashwin lauds analytically driven Kiwis

“Many top teams lack analytical drive. New Zealand is analytical. "I want to sit with them and watch them plan," said Ashwin.

Ashwin lauds analytically driven Kiwis

R Ashwin, a former all-rounder for India, has praised the New Zealand cricket team’s strategy and performance, stating that he would gladly pay to attend their team meetings and watch how they conduct themselves.

The off-spinner, who is renowned for his astute cricket analysis, made the comments prior to India vs. New Zealand’s second ODI. Ashwin was impressed by the planning and preparation of the visiting squad, who challenged the hosts despite missing several key players in their lineup, even though India defeated the Kiwis.

Many of the best teams lack a strong analytical bent. New Zealand has a strong emphasis on analysis. I would like to meet with them and watch how they plan; if necessary, I would even be happy to pay for it.

Ashwin stated on his YouTube channel, “I would pay to attend their team meetings to learn how they carry out their plans.”

He continued by emphasising that every side should appreciate New Zealand’s fighting spirit and tactical precision.

“We have to commend New Zealand for their readiness to fight during the match. They were able to re-enter the game since they didn’t give up until the very end. When it comes to man-to-man play, I also tweeted that New Zealand’s team lacks strength. But they can fight and compete with some of the best teams because of their discipline, fielding, and effective plan execution,” he added.

Despite India’s victory, the 39-year-old thinks the Kiwis were the superior team the entire time, with the Men in Blue having trouble staying consistent.

The New Zealand squad was the most outstanding. India’s cricket performance was lacking. “Harshit Rana batted and bowled really well in some areas,” he said.

The Nirajnan Shah Stadium in Rajkot will host the second ODI of the three-match series on January 14.
