After Ravichandran Ashwin led India to a 2-0 victory over Bangladesh in the just finished two-match series, Ramiz Raja praised Ashwin’s all-around ability.
The all-rounder from Tamil Nadu won his 11th Player of the Series title after amassing 114 runs at bat and taking 11 wickets with the ball. Fans and pundits alike praised him for his match-winning century in the opening innings of the first Test in Chennai.
Raja, a former ODI World Cup winner, claimed that Ashwin’s track record demonstrates that he is on par with everyone else in terms of his bat and ball skills. Ashwin is a no-nonsense cricketer, according to the former player who is now an expert, and he doesn’t have tantrums when he is not in the starting lineup.
“Ashwin has not received the recognition he deserves as an all-around player. His record shows that he is not inferior to anyone. He plays cricket with no bullshit and accepts everything. There are no meltdowns, not even when he is the team’s utility player or the 12th man. He is aware of his responsibilities and the state of the team,” Raja stated on his own YouTube account.

There is much to learn from Ashwin, according to the former head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who also lauded his aptitude for performing well when given the chance.
“He plays beautifully whenever he gets the chance. Ashwin is a great source of knowledge. Although he doesn’t seem to critically analyse anything off the field, he is outspoken. His comments demonstrate his insightful perspective on the game,” Ramiz clarified.

Ashwin will now shift his attention to New Zealand as they take on India in a three-match Test series beginning on October 16, following his sleepless nights with the Bangladeshi batsmen. Before they head to Australia to compete in the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy, this will be India’s final red-ball assignment.
