Australia won the first two Tests of the series to cement their dominance, while England made an incredible comeback in the series to win the third Test. Thus far, The Ashes 2023 has lived up to all expectations. As the fourth test draws near, both teams have a lot on the line. It should be noted that the Old Trafford Cricket Ground will host the fourth Test of the 2023 Ashes beginning on July 19.
In the 2019 Ashes, Ben Stokes performed an incredible run chase for England at Headingley before playing the fourth Test at Old Trafford. In Manchester in 2019, the crowd’s welcome of the English players was breathtaking. A standing ovation was given to the players after their outstanding victory at Headingley. Speaking on the same topic, English bowler Jack Leach was ecstatic about the crowd’s energy in Northern England.

Leach said that because of the tremendous fan support the English team receives when playing up north, the entire team enjoys going there. He also remembered the vibe at Headingley and Old Trafford during the 2019 Ashes.

Old Trafford was the Test in 2019 following Headingley. As I entered the batter’s box, everyone had taken off their shoes and was drinking from them. Next week, hopefully, will be more of the same. We enjoy competing in the north; those kinds of fields appear to be beneficial to us. On the podcast with Vaughany and Tuffers, Jack Leach noted, “The crowd is epic up in those locations.

“On certain grounds, you feel like the opponent is somewhat in the same boat as you are when you visit those locations. They sometimes refer to the audience as a “12th man,” and in those cities [Leeds and Manchester], it most certainly is. I believe it can genuinely make a significant impact. I regret that. The causes are unknown to me. Don’t you think we should just play all five at Headingley? Additionally, he said.
