As a result of Jack Leach’s injury, Moeen Ali is considering a Test revival during the Ashes.

With England having defeated Ireland in a one-off Test earlier this month and appearing well-prepared for the upcoming Ashes, they have recently been dealt a setback with the long-term absence of their premier spinner, Jack Leach. Leach’s back stress fracture has rendered him inactive for an extended period of time.

Moeen Ali, a veteran all-rounder for England, has reportedly been queried about his availability following the 31-year-old’s injury. Ali has been a tremendous asset to the England team in home conditions, as the exceptional all-rounder has amassed astounding statistics in 35 matches for his country in the Whites. Perhaps the premier all-rounder is best qualified by his aggressive batting style and lethal spin bowling.

Even though the England team has multiple replacements for the left-arm bowler in Liam Livingstone, Will Jacks, and Rehan Ahmed, Ali’s availability will be a significant benefit for the third-ranked Test side. According to Sky Sports, the England Board has inquired about Ali’s availability in light of this.

The batting all-rounder has never taken part in the new system that Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes established because he wants to retire from Test cricket. The 35-year-old played a significant role in the England team’s victory at the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, and he will undoubtedly seek to do the same later this year when England attempts to defend its ODI World Cup title.

Recently, Moeen Ali claimed the IPL 2023 championship with the Chennai Super Kings.

Ali, who now serves as vice captain of the England national team, has become a significantly more reliable performer in shorter formats over time. The veteran English all-rounder contributed to the Chennai Super Kings’ historic IPL 2023 championship victory. Throughout the tournament, Ali contributed significantly with both the bat and the ball at crucial moments. On June 16, England and Australia will commence the Ashes series.
