As India’s top wicket-taker in the Twenty20 International format, Arshdeep Singh has shared insights about his philosophy and career as a professional cricketer. In the last game of the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four phase, Arshdeep Singh was instrumental in India’s Super Over victory over Sri Lanka.
The left-arm pacer stressed the value of focussing only on the here and now and not on other things. During the recent Men in Blue match versus the Lankans at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, he gave insight into how he carried out his objectives.
“You must live in the moment since the trip is the same as everyone else’s. Even though I got hit by the batters at the beginning of my spell today (in the Super Four match against Sri Lanka), for instance, I continued to concentrate about how I could enjoy the moment. While fielding, I considered how I could make the biggest contribution. In an interview with Rinku Singh and Jitesh Sharma for BCCI TV, Arshdeep Singh said, “I finally saw my opportunity at the end and considered taking wickets at the end to contain the opposition and win the match.”
Arshdeep Singh also emphasised how important it is for bowlers to adjust to different situations, especially in the shortest format.
Additionally, he conveyed his appreciation for the help that well-known fast bowlers have given him throughout his international career.
“The way of thinking has been comparable. I have always tried to adjust to the circumstances whenever I had the chance, whether it is with the new ball or the old ball, the first or second innings, or anything else. I have had some amazing partners along the way, including Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) bhai, Mohammed Shami bhai, Jasprit Bumrah bhai, and now Hardik (Pandya) bhai. They have always put pressure on me from one end and rewarded me from the other. I want to express my gratitude to them,” he continued.
In their last Super Four match, India defeated Sri Lanka with Arshdeep Singh giving up only two runs and taking as many wickets in the Super Over. On Sunday, September 28, they will play Pakistan in the continental tournament’s summit match in Dubai.
