‘My life’s mantra is to enjoy the present’- Arshdeep Singh ahead of 2nd T20I vs Bangladesh

In Gwalior, young bowler Arshdeep Singh took three wickets against Bangladesh in the opening Twenty20 International. The 25-year-old will soon secure his place in the white-ball format if he continues to play as well as he did for the Indian side during the T20 World Cup 2024. Despite having just played in two T20 World Cups, he has already participated in 55 T20 internationals since making his debut two years ago.

Arshdeep mentioned that he doesn’t want to focus about the past or the future when discussing the same topic. The left-arm seamer said he wants to live in the now, enjoy it, and not worry too much about the future. Additionally, he made it clear that he is not even considering playing in the next T20 World Cup, which is in two years.

“I’m having fun with my game and can’t believe how quickly these past two years have passed.” The Times of India cited Arshdeep as saying, “My focus is simply to stay in the moment and enjoy both the highs and lows.”

“To live in the now is my motto in life. Since this is my day of rest, I shall make the most of it. Kal ka kal dekhenge means “will consider tomorrow when the time comes.” Two years away from the T20 World Cup, I don’t think much about the future,” he continued.

I want to give it my utmost in every format: Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep’s name was recently brought up in relation to the red-ball format. The Punjab-born pacer competed for Kent in the previous County Championship and finished strongly in the Duleep Trophy competition. Regarding his aspirations, Arshdeep said he plays to the best of his ability in any format and that switching formats won’t be a problem for him.

“I want to give it my all in every format whenever I have the chance. I like that you can readily adjust to the format, ground measurements, and conditions. It allows players to experiment with their abilities. How he can absorb pressure and take wickets in various ways. Players can learn a lot from playing in various forms.

“In T20s, you don’t need patience; instead, you have to consider what a batter can do. In red ball, you get more overs to bowl, and it teaches you patience,” the man said.
