Arjun Tendulkar struggles at the bat and Goa is bowled out for 135 against Tripura in the Ranji Trophy 2023–24.

Day 3 of Goa’s first Ranji Trophy match against Tripura has left them in a vulnerable position after they were bowled out for 135 in the first inning in response to Tripura’s enormous 484. With his knock of 41 (76), Deepraj Gaonkar was the only one to provide some fight against the formidable bowling assault. Right-arm seamer Abhijit Sarkar, nevertheless, broke through Goa’s batting order with figures of 4/24 in 12 overs, but the rest of the bats failed to provide him with any help.

Arjun Tendulkar also had a poor performance, managing just 11 (21) runs and taking two wickets with the ball in 26 overs that saw 94 runs scored against him.

In addition to him, Manisankar Mura Singh (3/40) and Rana Datta (3/41) each took three wickets.  The 24-year-old has amassed 223 runs from nine innings in his brief first-class career, including a century, while also taking 12 wickets.

Tripura didn’t start the first day well when Bikramkumar Das (10) and Bishal Ghosh (7) were removed for small amounts of run. Following the early blows, the 69-run partnership between Sudip Chatterjee (42) and Sridam Paul helped to stabilize the innings.

Day 3 at Tea saw Tripura ahead by 486 runs.

Paul managed to score a 112 (162) with the aid of 15 fours and a six, while Chatterjee was removed for 42 after falling victim to Vijesh Prabhudesai. Tripura concluded Day 1 with 261/4, thanks to their knocks. Afterwards, on Day 2, Tripura reached a huge 484 thanks to scores of 73 from Ganesh Satish, 97 from skipper Wriddhiman Saha, and 50 from Manisankar Mura Singh.

Mohit Redkar emerged as Goa’s best bowler, taking 4/74 in 22.4 overs. While this was going on, Tripura batted in the second inning and increased their lead to more than 450 by refusing to enforce the follow-on. After hitting 45 (64), opener Bikramkumar Das had a better outing than in the first inning. At tea, they were 123/3, with Rajat Dey (6) and Sridam Paul (14) at the crease.
