Jofra Archer stuns Washington Sundar with a sharp caught & bowled

On Day 5 of the current third Test at the Lord’s, England made an early impression by dismissing Washington Sundar thanks to a spectacular catch and bowl from pacer Jofra Archer. The match, which appeared well matched at stumps on Day 4, saw the home team advance early on the last morning, taking three crucial wickets in India’s chase for 193, including Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Sundar.

India started the day at 58/4 and needed 135 more runs to win with six wickets remaining. India’s greatest hope was Rahul, who went undefeated on 33 overnight. But India’s middle order was swept by England’s pace attack. To start the day, Archer uprooted his off-stump and removed Pant. The Archer’s second victim was all-rounder Washington Sundar, who faced just four balls before walking back for a duck.

Archer angled into Washington Sundar pads with a full delivery.

The speedster darted to his right in his follow-through to finish a one-handed stunner after the southpaw attempted to flick it through mid-wicket but closed the bat face early, giving the ball a leading edge. Notably, Ben Stokes’ peach had sent Rahul back just one over before Sundar’s wicket. India is presently in a challenging situation after losing three wickets in quick succession.

The visiting team now needs 99 more runs with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja, their last reliable duo, at the crease. With a 72 in the first innings, Jadeja has already had an outstanding performance, and Nitish is anticipated to back his partner. India’s score as of this writing is 97/7, with 96 runs still needed.

In the meantime, Sundar had stated that India would win the Test match from their current position following stumps on Day 4. However, with England taking three quick wickets, there is a greater probability that the game will end in the home team’s benefit.
