In the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford in Manchester, Anshul Kamboj will make his debut for India. On a cloudy first day, England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and chose to bowl first, but not before the Haryana right-hand seamer was awarded Cap No. 318.
In addition to Anshul Kamboj, India’s XI for the crucial Test match now includes Shardul Thakur and Sai Sudharsan. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep are injured, and Karun Nair has been dropped. In the five-match series, India is currently behind 2-1.
After Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh were ruled out of the fourth Test, Kamboj was added to the Indian team. In 24 first-class matches, the 24-year-old has taken 79 wickets with a strike rate of 44.2 and an average of 22.88.
In the Ranji Trophy 2024–2025, Anshul Kamboj was outstanding, taking 34 wickets at an average of 13.8 over six games. Even in an innings against Kerala, he took ten wickets.
Prior to the main series, Kamboj also participated in two red-ball matches for India A against the England Lions. In addition to scoring 76 runs at an average of 38, he claimed five wickets at 26.2.
He is now the first player from the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to play for his country under Gautam Gambhir’s coaching.
On July 9, 2024, Gambhir was named head coach of India. Last July 13, Tushar Deshpande made his T20I debut in Zimbabwe; however, VVS Laxman was the team’s travel companion. Beginning on July 27, Gambhir began his stint with the Sri Lankan tour.
On July 21, England made their XI announcement, replacing injured player Shoaib Bashir with Liam Dawson.
