According to Cricket South Africa, Anrich Nortje had a “stress reaction” and was dropped from consideration for South Africa’s 15-man squad for the 2025 Zimbabwe T20 Tri-Series. He was unable to play for the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the 2025 Major League Cricket season due to the same ailment.
Shukri Conrad, the head coach of South Africa, expressed sympathy for Anrich Nortje plight and wished him a quick recovery from his most recent setback.
“We need to find out how long he will be out and how serious his condition is. I feel sorry for him. It can’t be easy for a fast bowling superstar like him to cope with failure after setback. We’ll wait and see if it’s serious. “Of course, we are concerned,” Conrad said, according to ESPNcricinfo.
This is the second or third time that Anrich Nortje back has reacted to stress. We are absolutely not drawing a line with this name, and it is too early to make a diagnosis. We will give him every opportunity to return; he is 31 years old. The optimum course of action will need to be determined by the medical team,” he continued.
Unfortunately, Anrich Nortje has a habit of spending a lot of time on the sidelines.
He is no longer under a central contract with CSA. Between November 2013 and November 2015, November 2018 and February 2019, and November 2021 and April 2022, he did not play cricket in any capacity. A variety of hip and back problems were the primary cause of this.
South Africa has participated in seven games as of June 26 (two Test matches and five ODIs). Nortje never once represented the country. In the 18th Indian Premier League season, he has only played a few games for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
