Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25: Anmolpreet Singh hits fastest list A century by an Indian, 3rd-fastest overall

In the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024, Punjab’s top-order batsman Anmolpreet Singh recently achieved the third-fastest List A century, making history. At number three on the all-time list, he finished his tonne in just 35 deliveries. He has only AB de Villiers (31) and Jake Fraser-McGurk (29 balls) ahead of him.

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Anmolpreet Singh stepped out to bat at number three against Arunachal Pradesh.

With eight sixes and eleven fours, he reached his tonne. In 45 deliveries, he scored 115* runs, which enabled his team to successfully pursue down the target.

Noteworthy is the fact that, aside from Anmolpreet, AB de Villiers set a new record for the fastest List A century in January 2015 when he struck 149 in 44 balls for South Africa against the West Indies in Johannesburg. In relation to Anmolpreet Singh, the batter has received much-needed recognition. He did not sell at the most recent auction despite playing for the Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL and putting up some strong performances.

An easy victory for Punjab over Arunachal Pradesh

Regarding the match between Arunachal Pradesh and Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh batted first to start the match. Neelam Obi and Honey Khari both scored 10 and 13 runs to start the team’s innings. Arunachal Pradesh scored 164 runs in the first innings thanks to contributions of Prince Yadav and Techi Neri, who each contributed 23 and 42 runs.

In the first innings, Mayank Markande and Ashwani Kumar each claimed three wickets for Punjab. Raghu Sharma and Sanvir Singh each scored one run each, while Baltej Singh claimed two wickets.

Abhishek Sharma left for 10 runs as Punjab began their innings, hoping to chase down a target of 165 runs. Anmolpreet Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, on the other hand, chased down the target and won by nine wickets after scoring 115* and 35* runs, respectively.
