Anil Chaudhary, a highly regarded umpire in both the domestic and international circuits, has been named the on-field referee for the forthcoming Ranji Trophy 2024–25 final. Anil Chaudhary will set a record as the fifth player to win the title in India’s top domestic red-ball competition. JR Madangopal and Chaudhary will be officiating together.
In his various roles as match referee and umpire, Anil Chaudhary has officiated an incredible 226 Indian Premier League games. Additionally, he has officiated 90 First-Class games thus far.
At the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Vidarbha and Gujarat will square off in the 90th edition of the prestigious tournament’s final. The summit match will take place at the same location as the second semi-final, where Vidarbha defeated Mumbai, the reigning champions, by 80 runs.
Speaking of the first semi-final, Kerala narrowly overcame Jammu and Kashmir by a two-run margin in an exciting match played at Ahmedabad’s famed Narendra Modi Stadium. On the game’s last day, Kerala made a stunning comeback, taking Gujarat’s last four wickets as the latter needed only 28 runs to gain the vital lead.
Vidarbha won four of their seven games in Group B, finishing in second place. Kerala, meanwhile, had one fewer victory in as many games and finished in the same spot in Group C. During their journey to the final, neither team has lost.
Vidarbha will play in their fourth Ranji Trophy final with their current roster of 17 players. Kerala, on the other hand, is eager to go all the way to end a historic season and will be making their debut in the final.
