In the 16th match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) outscored Delhi Capitals (DC) by the second-highest margin ever recorded in the competition’s history on Wednesday, April 3, in Visakhapatnam. With some incredible hits from Sunil Narine (85 off 39), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54 off 27), and Andre Russell (41 off 19), the two-time champions amassed a massive score of 272/7 in their allocated 20 overs.

In the midst of the two KKR players, Raghuvanshi also stole the show by hitting a half-century in his first IPL innings. In his innings, the 18-year-old smacked three sixes and five fours. In one such blow, he used a switch-hit to guide a wide pitch over the third man for a maximum that left everyone stunned.

Rasikh Salam produced a good-length delivery that was well outside the off stump on the fourth ball of the fifth over, which was when the event occurred. It made six runs over the third-man boundary with the assistance of Raghuvanshi, who had already shifted sides to whack it as a left-hander.

In just 48 balls, the youthful player and Sunil Narine shared a whopping 104 runs for the second wicket. Together, they enabled KKR to hit a massive century in 12 overs by crossing the 160-run threshold. In the fifteenth over, Raghuvanshi was ultimately removed for 54 off 27, and even KKR owner Shahrukh Khan gave the gifted young player a hearty round of applause as he made his way back to the pavilion.

Andre Russell and Rinku Singh flawlessly ended the KKR innings.

Andre Russell came in ahead of his skipper, Shreyas Iyer, after he was dismissed and quickly reached 41 off just 18 balls, displaying his raw physical strength by hitting four fours and three sixes. To remove Russell in the final over and prevent KKR from exceeding Sunrisers Hyderabad’s IPL record of 277, it needed a brilliant yorker from Ishant Sharma (2/43, 3 overs).

In addition, Rinku Singh made a brief appearance with 26 balls, striking one four and three sixes. With stats of 3/49 in four overs, Anrich Nortje was the standout bowler for Delhi.
