Angelo Mathews

As several tense moments were seen during the current Bangladesh vs. Sri Lanka Match 38 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, tempers on the pitch rose.

All of the Sri Lankan players were dissatisfied with the controversial call that resulted in Angelo Mathews’ dismissal after Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan filed an appeal.

Consequently, the game’s second inning featured a number of intense face-offs. One such instance occurred when Najmul Hossain Shanto strolled out to the middle following the loss of the first wicket. It seems that Shanto was the one who went to Shakib to file an appeal over the premature termination.

The Sri Lankan team recalled Shanto’s antics when he emerged to bat and used some “not so polite” language to greet him at the wicket. Even Sadeera Samarawickrama was seen approaching the Bangladeshi batter to strike up a conversation. But the on-field umpire kept the pair apart.

Samarawickrama’s comments appeared to have given Shanto a boost as he went on to score an incredible century of ninety-one runs (101) with the help of twelve boundaries. After the two early knocks, Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan (82 off 65) had a mammoth 169-run third-wicket stand that helped Bangladesh steady their innings.

In the first inning, Charith Asalanka scored an incredible hundred runs.

Bangladesh was able to win the match by three wickets by chasing down the mark of 280 in 41.1 overs thanks to their tremendous combination. Bangladesh’s six-match losing record in the current World Cup came to a stop with their triumph, which also marked their second victory and moved them up to seventh place on the ODI World Cup 2023 Points Table.

Earlier in the first innings, Charith Asalanka produced an incredible hundred (108 off 105), which saw Sri Lanka all out for 279 in 49.3 overs. After finishing with stats of 3/80 in 10 overs, Tanzim Hasan Sakib emerged as Bangladesh’s best bowler.
