Andrew Flintoff makes major TV return with iconic 1980s game show

Andrew Flintoff, a former top all-rounder for England, is about to launch his hosting career on television. Notably, Bullseye, the well-liked game program, will have a special one-off Christmas edition hosted by Flintoff.

For those who are unaware, the iconic cricket player was flown to safety following a near-fatal car accident in 2022 while he was filming the automotive-focused series “Top Gear.” Following the collision, Flintoff sustained rib fractures in addition to serious face injuries. As such, this will be the lanky cricketer’s first time returning to television with his new program.

Reviving the ITV show that is focused on dart game was hinted to be the show’s motivation. Notably, the late comedian Jim Bowen hosted the program, which helped it become extremely famous in the 1980s. Following his recovery from the injury, Flintoff began re-entering the public eye with his sports documentary series, The Field of Dreams. In addition, the 46-year-old claimed that, as he thought back on the new program, the dart game show was one of his boyhood favourites.

Bullseye was one of my childhood favourite shows, and I adore darts. I’m still in shock that I get to host this Christmas special. Nothing beats a little Bully! The Sun quoted Flintoff as saying.

In the meantime, teams selected for the show are playing darts in pairs. One is chosen due to their darts prowess, while the other is favoured due to their broad darts knowledge. Because the first individual is an amateur darts player, they are referred to as “throwers,” while their companion is dubbed “knowers.” To win thrilling prizes, the teams must answer questions and toss darts on a variety of installed dart boards throughout the game.

Top Gear was put on indefinite hold following Andrew Flintoff’s accident.

In addition, the traumas endured by the Lancashire all-rounder not only affected Andrew Flintoff for the rest of his life, but they also determined the future of the Top Gear program. In addition to recalling that he had to go through the knife several times for facial injuries, Andrew Flintoff also mentioned that he had only left his residence for medical appointments for the following seven months.

Following the mishap, the BBC program has been cancelled for an undisclosed period of time. By giving Flintoff a sizable settlement, the organisers resolved both the disagreement and the treatment’s obligations. It was rumoured that the legendary figure received payment of almost nine million pounds.
