Rocky Flintoff, a teenager from Lancashire and the son of former England cricketer Andrew Flintoff, made 32 runs in his debut but was defeated by Jordan Clark’s four wicket haul. On his first day of first class, his father was watching him. Day 1 at the Oval saw Surrey regain control of the match because to Clark’s outstanding ball handling.
Andrew Flintoff became the youngest player in the County Championship history for Lancashire.
After making an impact in the One Day Cup with Lancashire and the England Lions, he was awarded his debut. As the score in the eleventh over was 33/2, the young player came out to bat at No. 4. Before he scored his first run, he proceeded to play seven straight dots. Despite making 32 runs, he was out of the game following a spectacular catch made by Sai Sudharshan.

The young player’s dismissal left Lancashire down 98/4. In addition, the bowling assault of Surrey was excellent in restricting Lancashire to 205 runs during their innings. Dom Sibley and Rory Burns of Surrey led them to a score of 83 runs without losing when they stepped out to bat, however play was halted because of poor light.
Flintoff will look to improve in the second inning following a lacklustre performance in the first, when he did show flashes of class. In July 2024, he represented England U-19 in his final red-ball match, which was against Sri Lanka’s youth squad. In Cheltenham, he was able to score 106 off 181.

Despite his disappointing performance in the One-Day Cup, he hopes it won’t affect him in the future. The youngster’s future is endless as he makes his first-class debut at such a young age.
