Andrew Flintoff has made harsh accusations against the TV bosses for treating him “like a piece of meat” after a horrifying automobile accident occurred during the filming of the British automotive magazine’s motoring-themed television show, Top Gear. When Flintoff wrecked a three-wheeled vehicle without a roof in December 2022, his life took a drastic shift. Flintoff’s face was severely injured.
Andrew Flintoff talked about the negative aspects of entertainment media and how, after years of playing the high-stakes international cricket game, he should have been more cautious of the BBC executives’ desire to push him to the maximum during the shoot.
“That, in my opinion, is the risk that TV faces. And in the end, I learnt the hard way. There’s always more. Everyone want more. The item that no one has ever seen before is what everyone craves. That greater stunt is what everyone wants. According to the Daily Express, Andrew Flintoff said, “Everyone wants to dig that little bit deeper.”
“An exclusive is what everyone desires. “Oh, let’s have that near-miss, because that will get viewers,” is what everyone wants. It’s always, always about the audience. And I should have been smart about this because I also learnt this in sports, with all the injuries, injections and times I was sent off on a cricket pitch and treated like a piece of meat. That’s sports and TV. That’s where it’s very comparable, I believe. You are merely an item. He went on, “You’re just a piece of meat.”
In a new documentary, Andrew Flintoff life following his near-fatal crash is highlighted.
For those who were not aware, Andrew Flintoff’s roofless Morgan Super 3 ended up toppling over. The former English cricket player made the split-second choice to land face-first rather than in any other posture. After the near-death event, Flintoff hardly ever left his home again. The majority of his life is reportedly back on track, though, according to his most recent Disney+ documentary.
